At Axon Diagnostics, we believe that cost should never be a barrier to receiving high quality mental health services. We’ve built our pricing structure to be transparent, affordable, and accessible. We understand that navigating healthcare can be stressful, particularly for those who experience executive dysfunction, and we’re committed to providing clear information so you can make informed decisions about your care.
To provide context, as of 2026, evaluation costs in the Portland-Metro area range from $1350 to $7500 or more depending on the nature and complexity of the assessment. Our pricing is designed to be affordable while still maintaining the highest standards of care. We currently accept insurance, out-of-network benefits, and self-pay patients. We offer a limited number of low-cost/sliding scale evaluations per year, and offer individualized payment plans for all patients.
For each evaluation, the cost includes the testing appointment (i.e., test materials, test administration, scoring time and materials, norm selection, etc.), the evaluation service (i.e., test interpretation, information synthesis, record review, diagnostic conceptualization, additional research/literature review, report writing, generating resources, collating referrals, writing academic recommendations, writing workplace recommendations, etc.), and a one-hour follow up appointment where we review the results of the evaluation together and discuss next steps for treatment. In total, the intake, testing appointment, and follow-up appointment require around 5 to 6 hours of your time, and the evaluation or the "behind the scenes" work represents anywhere from 8 to 16 or more hours of Dr. Young's time. When you're considering the cost of testing, we find it helpful to give the framing that the cost is for anywhere from 14 to 20 or more hours of work. As an additional point of context, in Portland we ranges of $250 per hour to over $500 per hour for evaluations from psychologists.
Listed below are the remaining total costs for evaluations after the initial intake appointment. This includes test administration and scoring, testing materials, evaluation procedures such as test interpretation and synthesis, records review, diagnostic conceptualization, report writing, treatment planning, gathering resources and referrals, writing accommodations, and a follow-up appointment to review results. There are no additional evaluation costs beyond what is listed here.
This is a required first-step for any evaluation. The purpose of the intake appointment is information gathering -- Dr. Young will ask questions throughout this appointment to determine what type of testing is needed and appropriate next steps. This appointment is your time to discuss your symptoms, concerns, and experiences, and share why you are seeking evaluation services.

For patients who would like use their insurance benefits, we are in-network with the following payers.
Insurance pricing is dependent on your specific plan formulation and whether you have met your annual deductible. If you are interested in learning more about your cost using insurance, please contact us so that we can conduct a benefits verification.
We are in the application process and awaiting updated contracts with PacificSource, BlueCross BlueShield/Regence, FirstChoice Health, Cigna/HealthSpring, OHP/CareOregon, and Moda.
At this time we are not anticipating contracts with Trillium or Kaiser.

For those who owe for testing, whether due to self-pay or needing to hit their deductible before insurance coverage begins, we offer a no-interest payment plan option. This is customizable depending on the cost of the evaluation, however, we do require that a minimum of 50% of the total cost is paid by the date of testing, and that the remaining 50% is paid by the date of the follow up.
As of 2026 we are excited to announce that we are partnering with CareCredit for financing! This is a great opportunity for patients who need assessment services but would otherwise not be able to afford it. Financing with CareCredit can be used if you are self-paying or using insurance, and there are options for no-interest payments. Using CareCredit, Axon Diagnostics is paid up-front so you can complete your evaluation immediately, and then make payments after the service is completed.
While we do not have direct partnerships with the following organizations, they offer medical loans/medical credit/financing for patients who need care now but need to pay over time.
